Estepona Town Hall informs that next Tuesday, July 2, will see the start of the Estepona Fair and Fiestas Mayores, which will run until Sunday, July 7, with TV presenter Carlos Sobera as this year’s town crier.
Over the past few days, Town Hall employees have been working to adapt the Parque Ferial and install the illuminated walkway that will welcome visitors. The work will continue with the installation of the merry-go-rounds and the preparation of the Caseta Municipal, where the free concerts will take place.
To herald the start of the fair, the “Bloco Eleguá” Batucada, recent winners of the PERCUmon 2024 International Batucada Festival, will perform a parade through the city center on Tuesday evening, followed by the reading of the opening speech by Bilbao actor and broadcaster Carlos Sobera. The event will take place at 9:30 p.m. on Avenida de España, and will be followed by the reading of the proclamation by Bilbao actor and broadcaster Carlos Sobera.
As for the entertainment program, the municipal stand will host free concerts during the fair days by artists of different musical styles, such as King Africa, David Barrull, José Ortiz, Miguel Campello, Merche and Las Hermanas Rodes.
A new feature: people who are extremely sensitive to loud sounds will be able to purchase hearing protection at the civil protection stand at the entrance to the exhibition center. This will reduce the effects of auditory exposure during the fair.
Wednesday of the fair will be devoted to the little ones, who can enjoy a children’s party at 7 p.m. with “Los Narizotas” by the M. Pollo circus, at the municipal stand. Attractions will also benefit from a 50% discount.
On Thursday, July 4, the senior citizens’ party will be held at the Caseta Municipal, featuring a show by José Ortiz, a contestant in the “Se llama Copla” TV competition.
This year, from Thursday to Saturday, a free horse-drawn carriage ride will be offered every afternoon, with a stop at the Caseta Municipal.
On the other hand, from Friday to Sunday, between 12 and 8 pm, the horse walk will be open to all riders, who are advised to dress in Andalusian style and decorate their horses.
The VIIth Concurso de Enjaezado a la Andaluza will be held on Sunday July 7 for equestrian enthusiasts. It will take place on the fair’s Paseo de Caballos, and prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed horses and riders in each category: rider, young rider, veteran rider, couple and amazon.
Finally, on Sunday, the Plaza de Toros will host the traditional bullfight of the fair, which this year, as usual, will feature an exceptional line-up. Six bulls from prestigious breeders Hermanos García Jiménez and Olga Jiménez will be fought by the biggest bullfighting stars to have passed through Seville’s Puerta del Príncipe: Morante, Castella and Roca Rey.
